Livestock Road yard waste: three collection days and two facilities to distinguish

The county restricts brush and yard-waste collection at its transfer site to Saturday, Sunday and Monday. That schedule differs from general site hours and regional landfill hours.

The material-specific schedule

A county notice posted September 1 and updated September 2, 2026 limits brush and yard-waste drop-off at 427 Livestock Road, Rustburg, to Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 6:30 a.m.–9 p.m. The dedicated facility page identifies the effective date as July 1, 2026.

The facility page also lists general daily opening hours. That broader schedule does not override the narrower yard-waste rule. A Tuesday trip for household trash should not be assumed to permit unloading brush.

The alternate destination has its own hours

The county’s waste page directs residents with natural debris on other weekdays to the Region 2000 landfill at 361 Livestock Road, or to return when the county site accepts that material.

The regional operator’s hours page lists Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–4 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m.–noon. It also lists holiday closures. The county site’s evening and Sunday hours do not apply to the landfill.

Before traveling, confirm the material, load, applicable fee and access conditions with the operator. The regional residential guidelines describe a tipping-fee system; this report does not promise that a particular load is free.

What the notice does and does not establish

The announcement attributes the change to a Board policy update. It does not supply the underlying motion, recorded vote or a detailed cost explanation. This edition therefore reports the published operating rule without assigning an unverified vote date or motive.

To trace the decision, ask for the adopted policy and its effective date, the meeting record and any implementation memo. Use the county AgendaCenter and our meeting-records guide. A news notice and an adoption record answer different questions.

Check the load before leaving

Tell Public Works what the load contains and whether it comes from a residence or business. Mixed loads may require a different disposal route. Our waste and recycling guide provides a destination checklist; the recycling expansion report covers the four named co-mingled collection sites.
