Hampshire Fire Protection District: stations, budget and spending records

At a glance

Hampshire Fire Protection District lists stations at 202 Washington Avenue and 1449 Gast Road and operates separately from the village government. Its own trustees and financial records are the starting point for fire-service spending questions. This guide organizes dated vehicle decisions, audit costs and budget records, while clearly identifying current budget totals and final payment evidence that were not located.

Updated · Individual source dates below · WorthFighting.org

Verified through October 4, 2026. Hampshire Fire Protection District operates separately from the Village of Hampshire. Its public records identify two stations, elected trustees, budget actions and vehicle decisions. The district's reviewed records do not establish a current, adopted FY2027 budget total or final prices for the April 2026 vehicle approvals.

“Not Located” means the reviewed online records did not establish the field. It does not mean that the district has no budget, that a purchase was unauthorized or that a record cannot be obtained.

Which fire district serves a Hampshire address?

Start with the district's official coverage map, then confirm a particular address with the district. A Hampshire mailing address, a village limit and a fire-district boundary need not describe the same area. For the tax side, compare the taxing-district entries on your county parcel record using the Hampshire property-tax guide.

The district history says the department became a tax-levying fire district in 1961 and began emergency medical services in 1974. That separate district structure matters when looking for a budget or trustee decision: the village budget is not a substitute for the fire district's records. Our village budget and actual-spending guide covers the other government.

FacilityAddressWhat this guide can verify
Station 1202 Washington Avenue, Hampshire, IL 60140Listed on the district's contact and board-meeting pages
Station 21449 Gast Road, HampshireDistrict history dates the start of staffing to May 23, 2024

The district describes Station 2 as serving its northern area. We have not converted its website's response-time claim into an independently measured performance statistic. Comparable results would require dated incident data, consistent time definitions and a clear service area.

Fire-district decision ledger: budgets, audits and vehicles

This ledger separates the date of an action from the date of a packet filename. Several March and April minutes are hosted in files named for a later meeting. Use the meeting heading inside the document.

What the audit-cost comparison actually shows

The June 11, 2025 minutes give both the prior figures and the proposed FY25 audit engagement charges:

Audit componentPrior figure stated in minutesFY25 engagement figureDollar change
District audit$10,100$10,605+$505
Pension audit$2,245$2,360+$115
Combined base figures$12,345$12,965+$620
Additional grant-related report, if requiredNot stated$1,700 conditionalNot included above

The combined row is our addition of the two stated components. The district component rose 5%; the pension component rose about 5.1%. These are engagement figures approved in June 2025 for the FY25 audit, not the district's operating budget, a 2026 audit quote or proof of cash paid. Adding the conditional report to every year's expense would overstate what this record establishes.

What is missing from the current budget picture?

The government page has an annual-budgets heading, but an adopted FY2027 budget download was not located there during this review. The meeting index supplied the records linked above; a preliminary agenda alone cannot establish the later vote or final figures.

The publicly accessible February 2026 board packet contains financial reports and revised budget material. Parts are marked draft, and at least one financial table has a period heading inconsistent with the packet date. We therefore have not relabeled those figures as current October actuals or used them to supply a missing adopted FY2027 total.

To complete a defensible annual comparison, the needed records are the signed adopted ordinance, all amendments, matching fund schedules, the latest monthly actuals, and the audited financial statements for the same fiscal year. Appropriation authority, budget estimates, warrants and cleared payments should remain distinct. The water-project cost tracker shows the same distinction for separate village infrastructure contracts.

Board meetings and the 2027 trustee election

The district's board page lists regular meetings at Station 1 on the second Wednesday at 5 p.m., unless otherwise posted. Its remaining 2026 scheduled dates are October 14, November 11 and December 9. Check the individual notice for changes or special meetings.

The district's April 6, 2027 election notice lists two six-year trustee terms and one four-year term. It says candidate packets are available at Station 1 on weekdays, 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m., beginning August 24, 2026; the candidate filing period is November 16–23, 2026. The notice directs candidates to the packet for filing location, procedure and requirements. Those packet-pickup hours are specific to this notice.

That is a 2027 consolidated election, separate from the November 3, 2026 general election. For the upcoming general election's local locations, hours and registration options, see the Hampshire 2026 voting guide. This tracker does not claim that a candidate has filed, qualified or been elected.

How to obtain the next public record

The district contact page lists administrative telephone 847-683-2629, weekday business hours of 8 a.m.–4 p.m., and its public-records instructions. It identifies elarson@hampshirefire.org and the mailing destination Hampshire Fire Protection District, Attn: Freedom of Information Act Officer, P.O. Box 245, Hampshire, IL 60140.

A focused document request can identify the meeting date and record needed. Useful next records include:

  • The executed FY2027 budget and appropriation ordinance, fund schedules and subsequent amendments.
  • The contract, change orders, purchase orders and payment register for the ambulance remount approved April 8, 2026.
  • The approved purchase amount, upfitting scope and payments for the command vehicle replacement approved that day.
  • A dated annual incident report with definitions for dispatch, turnout and travel time, and separate coverage for each reporting year.

These are records to seek, not requests we have submitted. If evaluating new development's service demands, connect any verified district capacity records to the specific project in the Hampshire development tracker; do not infer a capacity shortfall from growth alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Hampshire Fire Protection District part of the village budget?

The district's notice lists April 6, 2027, with two six-year seats and one four-year seat. It gives November 16–23, 2026 as the candidate filing period and refers candidates to the packet for the full requirements.

Update log and evidence limits

October 4, 2026 — Phase 4 publication: assembled the station reference, six-entry public-decision ledger, audit-engagement comparison, budget-document gaps, meeting schedule and 2027 trustee notice. Amounts are labeled by the specific document and period they describe.

Not published as established facts: a current total budget, vehicle purchase prices absent from the minutes, final vehicle delivery, a current incident total or a response-time trend. The next update should reconcile later board records and executed financial documents before adding those fields. “Verified through” describes the review cutoff, not a claim that the latest action occurred in the latest document found.
