An option after Hampshire's posted dates end

The same county poster lists Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Avenue, Elgin, with these later hours:

October 28–309 a.m.–7 p.m.
Saturday, October 318 a.m.–4 p.m.
Sunday, November 110 a.m.–4 p.m.
Monday, November 29 a.m.–4 p.m.

Other permanent sites appear in the full county schedule. Choose a site within your election authority's coverage; this guide does not establish eligibility from a Hampshire ZIP code.

Where do Hampshire residents vote on November 3?

The county's Election Day polling-place list, marked current September 2, 2026, lists the same location for Hampshire Township precincts 01, 02, 03, 04 and 05: Hampshire Township, 170 Mill Avenue. See PDF page 2 under “Hampshire Township.” The November 3 hours are 6 a.m.–7 p.m., which are different from that building's early-voting hours.

The Clerk also says voters in its jurisdiction can use any of its Election Day polling places. Check the official Election Day instructions and Voter Search for the current options. A Hampshire mailing address does not prove that your precinct is one of the five Hampshire Township precincts. The county list separately identifies Rutland, Plato and other township precincts.

For other address-dependent civic questions, the Hampshire tax and assessment guide explains why county, township and parcel information matter. School attendance boundaries are a separate question covered in the Hampshire/Jacobs boundary guide.

Read the county calendar together with the specific grace-period instructions. The calendar's October 7 entry has inconsistent wording; the dedicated grace-period page explicitly states that the period begins October 7 and runs through November 3. October 6 is therefore not the last opportunity for an eligible resident to register and vote.

The county directs in-person registration applicants to bring two forms of identification, with at least one showing their current residential address; review its registration requirements and examples. Voters already correctly registered under their current name and address do not need identification to vote under the Clerk's published instructions. These are different situations.

If you register during the grace period for this election, the county poster says to vote at the time of registration. Use the Illinois online registration service for online registration, rather than entering personal registration information on this website.

Requesting and returning a mail ballot

The Clerk's vote-by-mail page links the online application and printable form. It also gives the election office number, 630-232-5990, for assistance. Apply early enough for delivery and return; the application deadline and ballot-return rules are separate.

For a ballot returned through the mail, the county requires an Election Day postmark and receipt within two weeks after the election. For November 3, that receipt date is November 17. Follow the ballot's instructions and check with the Clerk about return options or a ballot that has not arrived. If you requested a mail ballot and decide to vote in person, the county tells you to bring that ballot. If it is lost or unavailable, contact election officials for the applicable procedure; do not assume you have lost the ability to vote.

How to find the offices and questions on your ballot

Use Kane County Voter Search. The tool lists registration status by name search, precinct, polling place, voting districts and sample ballot. Its address search accepts a house number or street name. Confirm the election and address before relying on a sample ballot.

We have not published a single “Hampshire ballot” or assigned candidates and referendums from ZIP code. Different district boundaries can produce different ballots. A district map, a village boundary and a school attendance zone answer different questions.

The fire district has separately announced April 6, 2027 trustee elections, with a candidate filing period in November 2026. Those seats should not be confused with the November 3 general election. Our Hampshire Fire Protection District tracker links the district's notice and explains the seats listed.
