The October policy and March revision must be reconciled
The current district navigation links to a manual whose 5223 page is labeled revised October 8, 2025. Separately, search-indexed official minutes identify a March 18, 2026 second reading of revised 5223. The old PDF address did not resolve during direct retrieval. The later record should not be silently ignored or treated as proof that every earlier clause remained unchanged. Posted policy · Indexed minutes link · Current board index.
The decisive next document is the final policy attached to that action, with its effective date. Until then, the two-period schedule and screening rules below describe the accessible posted text, with the version limitation retained.
How the posted rules compare with other Ohio districts
The October text uses two elementary/middle periods, compared with Westerville’s one. It protects core courses but does not include Westerville and Upper Arlington’s all-graded-course definition. It also requires annual sponsor screening acknowledgment and continuing checks when staffing changes. These differences are useful document comparisons, not an assessment of compliance or provider quality. Posted rules.
As in the current statute, high-school release time is expressed by reference to credit-unit attendance time. The separate option to award up to two completed credit units requires its own district authorization. State time and credit provisions.

How current Ohio law applies
Ohio requires a qualifying release policy and at least one period weekly, written parental consent, sponsor attendance records and liability, private transportation, responsibility for missed work and protection of core courses. The two-period elementary/middle and high-school time-equivalent limits are defaults that district policy may change. Credit awards are separate and conditional.
