Downtown Walhalla Guide: What’s Open, Restaurants, Shops and Parking
Build a Main Street outing around coffee, shopping, local history or a show, with current source links and practical parking guidance.
Seven sourced stops, city parking guidance and a separate fire-recovery check.
What’s open—and what to recheck after the fire
The city’s communications page records the September 17, 2026 Main Street fire and subsequent recovery updates. That history makes a current business page more useful than an older itinerary. The seven stops below have operator or venue information supporting a planned visit; opening hours and individual access still need a day-of-visit check.
Alexander’s Coffee House & Café: Visit Oconee’s Walhalla listing currently describes food-truck service. The operator’s website retains café material, so this guide does not treat its older storefront address or hours as proof of a reopened dining room. Confirm the truck’s location and schedule directly before traveling.
No complete post-fire reopening or relocation roster was established. A business omitted here is not being labeled closed. Use a dated operator announcement for a changed address; recovery funding announcements do not establish a reopening.

These are selected options, not a ranking or a complete business directory. Established businesses here should not be confused with new openings.
Mountain Mocha: coffee and a daytime stop
314 E Main Street · 864-638-9357. The operator’s site confirms this address and links its food, drink and ice-cream menus. It is a useful place to start or pause a Main Street visit. Check the operator for current hours; this guide does not adopt conflicting times from third-party directories.
Freehouse Brewery: check the kitchen cutoff
210 E Main Street. Freehouse’s Walhalla page lists a taproom and food service. Published taproom hours are Tuesday–Thursday 3–9 p.m., Friday–Saturday 11:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m., and Sunday 11:30 a.m.–9 p.m. The kitchen closes 30 minutes before the taproom. Plan a meal around the kitchen cutoff, especially before a performance.
StumpHaus Taproom: another Main Street dining option
200 E Main Street · 864-916-0602. The taproom’s website links food, drinks, events and reservations. It posts Monday–Thursday 11 a.m.–9 p.m., Friday–Saturday 11 a.m.–10 p.m., and Sunday closed. Check a dated event notice rather than assuming live entertainment every night.
Sunni Ann Mercantile: gifts and vintage browsing
300 E Main Street · 864-916-9206. The store’s own page lists Sunni Ann Mercantile Co. and Sunni’s Vintage Shop, with Monday–Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m. hours. Browse gifts, clothing and vintage merchandise before dinner; special shopping events can have different hours.
Warther’s Originals: distinguish retail from auctions
The company’s AuctionZip profile identifies the retail store at 308 E Main Street, open Wednesday–Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and the auction location across the street at 321 E Main Street. It lists 864-710-0025 for contact. Confirm which entrance and schedule apply to your visit; an auction listing does not guarantee retail access at the auction address.
Oconee History Museum: an indoor history stop
123 Browns Square Drive · 864-638-2224. The museum visitor page posts Tuesday–Saturday 11 a.m.–5 p.m. and describes self-guided county-history exhibits and a children’s corner. This is an indoor option for a shopping-day break. Its regular schedule does not include Sunday, even if an older suggested itinerary recommends a Sunday visit.
Walhalla Performing Arts Center: plan the evening first
101 E North Broad Street. Use the venue’s official calendar to choose the performance, confirm the start time and follow the venue’s ticket link. Ticket availability and prices belong to the individual show. For the November 29 Celtic Angels Christmas performance and other seasonal plans, see the Oconee holiday guide.
Allow time between a meal and curtain time. Follow the venue’s parking instructions on a show night; the city’s general parking options are listed below.
Where to park in downtown Walhalla
The city’s dedicated parking page describes free public parking and asks drivers to limit Main Street spaces between Ann and Tugaloo streets to two hours. For a longer visit it identifies two free all-day lots:
- City public lot: South Catherine and South Broad streets.
- Owens’ Park public lot: Main and South College streets.
The city lists accessible spaces on Main Street and in both lots. It says Performing Arts Center and City Gym parking is also available when no events are scheduled. Customer-only business lots are separate. Follow current signs, barriers and event notices; a published map does not guarantee an available space or an accessible route to every doorway.
A flexible Main Street walking plan
- Choose your museum or show time, then park according to the length of your visit.
- Start with a coffee or food stop and browse Main Street shops during their published hours.
- Add the History Museum if its visiting day and time fit.
- Finish with dinner or your booked performance.
This is a suggested sequence, not a measured or accessibility-audited route. Use marked crossings, respect recovery barriers and check with venues about entrances and facilities. For an outdoor extension requiring separate travel, consult the county parks and attractions guide.
Events and holiday planning
Check the city event page for current announcements. At review it marks the Merchants Market rescheduled, date to be determined; an older advertised date should not be treated as current. The holiday guide separates the confirmed Christmas parade time from tree-lighting and other details still awaiting verification.
