Service deserves to be remembered with care. WorthFighting's Military & Veterans Center connects military history and remembrance with the records that help us understand individual lives.
Our starting point is the 319th Glider Field Artillery Battalion collection. It brings together a readable introduction, selected soldier references and practical research guidance. The aim is to help readers move from a name or family story to evidence they can examine for themselves.

Featured collection: 319th Glider Field Artillery Battalion
Explore the World War II history of an artillery battalion that served with the 82nd Airborne Division. The collection explains its connection to Normandy and Mission Elmira, introduces selected official accounts of individual soldiers, and points to records preserved by archives and specialist collections. Army historical overview
Start with the wartime timeline, follow the Normandy account, or use the research index to understand what a named source can—and cannot—tell you.
Research someone who served
A name on a roster can open a door. Understanding the person behind it takes dated evidence and careful comparison.
The research guidance inside the 319th collection explains the different purposes of personnel files, morning reports, operational records, compiled name lists and family documents. It also explains why a missing file does not end every avenue of research.
Bring together what you already know: names, service numbers, dates, battery references and the wording on family papers. Then follow the relevant record leads. The guidance is a starting point for your own research; this center does not offer a records-ordering or identification service.

How we handle the evidence
Remembering service responsibly means showing where a story comes from.
Historical pages distinguish official records from later histories, recollections and compiled lists. They identify uncertainty, credit the collections that preserve the material, and avoid turning a brief name entry into an unsupported biography.
Photographs require established identification, provenance and reuse terms before reproduction. Where those conditions have not been met, descriptive links direct readers to the source collection.
WorthFighting is an independent publisher. This center is neither an official military organization nor a complete archive of those who served.
If you find an error, identify the passage and share the supporting source through our existing contact page.
