DeSoto County, Mississippi 287(g) & ICE Agreement Tracker
Hernando, Southaven, Olive Branch and Horn Lake: identify the agency before drawing a conclusion.
Mississippi sheriff agreement not located in the reviewed roster
A current DeSoto County, Mississippi sheriff 287(g) agreement is not established by the evidence reviewed here. There is no matching sheriff or other local DeSoto row in the October 2 ICE workbook. That does not establish refusal, absence of an application, or a violation of SB 2114.
The county’s official directory identifies Thomas E. Tuggle II as sheriff and lists its Adult Detention Facility in Hernando. The status of an attempted agreement, ICE response and DPS reporting remains unresolved.

Do not substitute DeSoto County, Florida
The ICE-hosted DeSoto Task Force document identifies DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, Florida. It is not evidence of a Mississippi agreement. The state field, agency name and local address must all match before a model or date is assigned.
Our Mississippi page uses the Hernando-based county directory. An article about the Memphis region, federal assistance, a criminal investigation or jail capacity also does not by itself prove a delegated 287(g) agreement.
Who holds the local records
The county directory lists sheriff administration at 3091 Industrial Drive W, Hernando, and the Adult Detention Facility at 3425 Industrial Drive W, Hernando. These identify the local institutions for follow-up; they do not establish immigration powers or a current detention contract.
DeSoto’s records policy directs police and arrest-record requests to the agency that generated the report. Its county-government request process is separate. Records belonging to Hernando, Horn Lake, Southaven, Olive Branch or Walls police should not be attributed automatically to the sheriff.
Useful records for resolving this tracker are the dated letter of interest, application, ICE acknowledgment or rejection, executed MOA and amendments, quarterly DPS notification, training authorization and aggregate financial records. This review did not send a request or receive an agency response; no outreach is implied.

Neither the roster date nor the date we checked the directory is an agreement date.
How the Mississippi requirement applies to the question
SB 2114, Section 4 uses the exact words “reasonable attempt to execute”. By October 1, 2026, covered county law-enforcement agencies operating county detention facilities were to attempt a written ICE agreement. It does not require a particular model. Section 4(2) provides for quarterly status notification to the Department of Public Safety until an agreement is entered. Final-text mirror.
The law took effect July 1, 2026 and schedules repeal July 1, 2028. Section 8 authorizes the Attorney General to investigate alleged violations and seek declaratory or injunctive relief. This tracker makes no finding that any named county violated the act. Read the Mississippi overview for the statewide comparison and source limits.
What would change this status
An executed Mississippi MOA would support publishing a model and documented agreement date. A dated application and ICE correspondence could establish an attempt without establishing a completed agreement. A DPS notice could clarify the post-deadline reporting record. Operational totals would need their own dated evidence.

Source access and limits
This edition re-extracts Mississippi entries from the official October 2, 2026 ICE workbook retained during WorthFighting’s earlier research. It distinguishes the source date from the October 7 editorial review. Fresh direct ICE requests returned HTTP 403. The Legislature’s endpoint also failed to load; its indexed final text was cross-checked with the LegiScan reproduction.
Model dates below are the workbook’s SIGNED field. We did not newly inspect inaccessible MOA signatures. A later agreement, application, rejection, training event or quarterly report may not be represented in this snapshot. No county is classified as compliant or noncompliant from roster absence alone.
Direct answers & FAQ
Does DeSoto County MS have a 287(g) agreement?
No matching Mississippi agreement was located in the October 2 roster reviewed here. A current agreement, application and quarterly-report status remain unresolved. This page does not claim that no agreement exists.
Is the DeSoto ICE document in search results for Mississippi?
The linked ICE Task Force document identifies DeSoto County, Florida. It must not be used as evidence for the Hernando-based Mississippi sheriff.
Did October 1 require every county to have a signed agreement?
Section 4 requires covered county detention-facility operators to make a reasonable attempt to execute an agreement. It does not mandate a particular model. It also provides for quarterly status notification to DPS until an agreement is entered. Roster absence alone does not settle compliance.
Does a missing entry mean the sheriff refuses to cooperate with ICE?
No. A roster gap does not establish a refusal, a failure to attempt an agreement, or the absence of other lawful cooperation.
