The 27 selected title records contain 3 last-recorded removals, 4 restorations, 1 retention, 2 grade restrictions, 5 pending reviews, 9 temporary restrictions and 3 cases with no verified final decision. The three removals include one historical CFISD committee outcome. These categories must not be summed into a “banned books” total.
Current-status evidence is recorded separately: 5 pending reviews in Conroe’s latest dated register, 9 temporarily unavailable titles in Lubbock’s live register/procedure, and 13 records whose current catalog outcome is unknown. No complete campus-by-campus current holdings audit was conducted.
Methodology and limitations
WorthFighting researches official records first: enacted law and agency rules; district policies; board minutes and orders; council records; district registers, forms and catalogs. Agendas establish scheduled business, not an outcome. District summaries are attributed and are checked against more specific records when available.
This is a purposive research sample, not a census or a compliance ranking. We selected districts for document quality, current implementation, council activity, significant decisions, usable parent procedures and recurring public-record value. Search opportunity is an editorial assessment, not measured search volume or population coverage.
Each record separates a source’s date, an event date and our October 9, 2026 verification date. Month-only dates remain month-only. A live link is not proof that all underlying facts are current. Parent accounts, private student records and every campus holding were not accessed. Missing evidence is labeled; it is never converted into a negative finding.
Selection favored source-rich districts. Depth varies: the five published trackers received fuller review; eleven comparison profiles preserve narrower leads. Historical handbooks and announcements are not counted as current documented workflows. The records are examples, not exhaustive title inventories. District-hosted documents can change at stable URLs; the CFISD policy-version conflict demonstrates why retrieval dates matter.
The district CSV has 16 profiles. The title CSV has 27 rows, with district fields joined for analysis. The JSON includes all source notes. Report totals are generated from the same records; no missing cell is converted to “no.”
