Blount County 911 Addresses: New Requests & Verification
A new address request and verification of an existing address use different forms. Prepare the property details, check the multiple-residence exception and follow the county district’s published process.

Choose a new request or an existing-address check
The Alabama 911 Board says local authorities assign 911 addresses. In Blount County, the Communications District publishes a New Address Request page and a separate Address Verification page labeled for existing addresses only.
Decide what you need before entering property information: an address assigned to a new location, or verification of an address already in use. If you are uncertain which situation applies, describe it to the district’s administration office at 205-625-4911.
More than one residence? Check this exception first
The district’s FAQ requires an Exempt Subdivision Letter for property with multiple existing or planned residences. Contact Blount County Revenue at 205-973-0285; do not submit the ordinary online request.
After the exemption is obtained, Revenue provides a paper address-request form for submission with the other paperwork.
Gather the parcel and location details
The first page of the new-address form asks for applicant contact information, current address, street or road name, county parcel number, the nearest known address and the structure type. It also asks whether the street is new and whether a structure is already on the property.
The FAQ calls for GPS coordinates at the center of the driveway entrance and the center of the proposed structure location. It directs residents to Blount Revenue’s property-tax maps for parcel information.
As a preparation step, label those two coordinate pairs clearly and check that the parcel information describes the intended property. Ask for help if you cannot confidently identify a location; do not substitute an unrelated nearby address.
Use the published route and allow time for a reply
The FAQ describes ordinary requests as online-only through a contractor, with no charge for new-address or verification services. In-person requests are not accepted.
New-address notices usually arrive by email within a week. Check spam. After more than ten days, call 205-625-4911, option 1, during business hours. Treat that timing as an estimate.
What the verification form asks for
The existing-address verification form asks for requester and property-owner information, the property address, parcel ID, the reason for verification and GPS coordinates for the structure and driveway at the main road. It also has an additional-information field.
Explain the discrepancy you need checked, such as an address written differently in two records, and identify the records involved. Keep the request focused on that question. This guide does not establish that any particular address is valid or that a database has been corrected.
Keep the result with your property records
Save the district’s response and use the confirmed address when contacting the offices involved in your project. Ask each office whether it needs a copy and whether its own record must be updated.
For utility setup, see the water-service guide; Oneonta’s published new-account checklist requests the 911 address. Use the home-project guide for building, driveway and septic contacts. Address assignment does not, by itself, confirm a permit, utility connection or postal-delivery arrangement.
Sources and reporting
We reviewed the district's FAQ and viewed the published new-address and verification forms in a browser on October 19, 2026. The new-address review covered the visible first form page; no fields were filled, later conditional steps completed or requests submitted. The multiple-residence paper-route exception is preserved alongside the general online instructions. The timing statement applies to new-address notification. We did not confirm any parcel, coordinate, exemption, address, permit, staff availability or postal-delivery outcome.
