The green energy agenda is built on a fundamental deception. The claim that America can power its economy entirely on wind and solar energy within a decade is not just unrealistic — it is mathematically impossible. Wind and solar energy are intermittent, unreliable, and require backup from traditional energy sources. The batteries required to store renewable energy at scale do not exist and may never exist at the scale needed.

Meanwhile, the components required for green energy infrastructure — solar panels, wind turbine magnets, lithium batteries — are overwhelmingly produced in China. The green energy transition that the Biden administration is pursuing would make America more dependent on foreign adversaries, not less.

The Strategic Implications

When America produces its own energy, it does not need to send military forces to the Middle East to protect oil shipping lanes. It does not need to tolerate the human rights abuses of oil-producing dictatorships. It does not need to worry about energy supply being used as a weapon against American interests.

The Biden administration's energy policies have surrendered that strategic advantage. America is once again dependent on foreign oil, vulnerable to supply disruptions, and forced to make foreign policy concessions to oil-producing nations that do not share our values.

The threat from China is directly connected to energy policy. China dominates the supply chain for green energy components — rare earth minerals, solar panel manufacturing, battery production. A green energy transition on the terms being pushed by the Biden administration would make America dependent on China for its energy infrastructure. That is a national security nightmare.

Reclaiming American Energy Dominance

The path back to energy independence is clear. It requires the political will to stand up to the environmental lobby and the green energy industry.

Restore oil and gas leasing on federal lands. American energy producers should have access to the resources they need to power the American economy. The resources are there — the technology is proven — the only thing standing in the way is government policy.

End the regulatory warfare on American energy. The methane regulations, the emission standards, the permitting delays — all of these are designed to make energy production more expensive. They should be repealed and replaced with a regulatory framework that encourages production.
