Border Breakdown: 10 Million Illegal Crossings and the Vanishing American Border

The Worst Border Crisis in American History

The numbers tell a story the mainstream media refuses to cover. Since January 2021, United States Customs and Border Protection has logged over 10 million encounters at the southern border — a figure that dwarfs any previous administration in American history. To put that into perspective, the total population of illegal border crossers during this period exceeds the population of 41 individual states.

This is not a policy debate. This is a national emergency that has been engineered by an administration that ran on reversing every Trump-era border protection measure on day one.

The Human Cost of Open Borders

Behind every statistic is a human story, and those stories are not what the mainstream media tells you. The victims of open-border policies are not just the American citizens whose communities are overrun — they include the migrants themselves, lured by false promises of asylum, exploited by cartels, and abandoned in overcrowded shelters in cities that cannot afford to house them.

Consider the fentanyl crisis. Over 100,000 Americans die each year from drug overdoses, with the vast majority linked to fentanyl pouring across the southern border. This poison is manufactured in China, processed in Mexico by cartel labs, and walked across a border that this administration has refused to secure. Every one of those deaths is a policy choice. Every one of those deaths was preventable.

The cartels are not just smuggling drugs. They are smuggling humans, weapons, and unknown individuals from countries with ties to terrorism. The terror watch list encounters at the southern border have shattered previous records. We do not know who is coming in, where they are going, or what they intend to do.

The Financial Burden on American Communities

The cost of this crisis falls squarely on the shoulders of American taxpayers. Border states like Texas and Arizona have spent billions on border security that should be handled by the federal government. But the crisis has not stayed at the border — it has been exported to every city in America.

New York City alone has spent over $5 billion housing migrants in hotels and shelters. Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. have all been overwhelmed. School districts are buckling under the weight of non-English-speaking students. Hospitals are closing because emergency rooms are overwhelmed with undocumented immigrants who cannot pay for care.

The Biden administration has not just allowed this crisis to happen — it has actively encouraged it. By ending the Remain in Mexico policy, halting border wall construction, and rolling back Title 42, this administration sent a clear message to the world: the border is open.

What Real Border Security Looks Like

The solution is not complicated. It requires political will, not new technology. The Trump administration proved that border security works — illegal crossings dropped to historic lows when the policies were enforced.

Complete the border wall. Physical barriers work. They funnel traffic to ports of entry where it can be processed and screened. They buy time for Border Patrol agents to respond. Every mile of wall built reduced illegal crossings in that sector by over 90%.

Restore Remain in Mexico. The policy that required asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their claims were adjudicated was the single most effective deterrent to fraudulent asylum claims. It was ended on day one of the Biden administration. It must be restored immediately.

End catch-and-release. The practice of releasing illegal border crossers into the interior of the United States with a court date that may be years away is not a policy — it is an open invitation. Every illegal crosser should be detained and returned to their country of origin.

Deploy military resources to the border. The cartels operate with military-grade weapons and logistics. Border Patrol agents are outgunned and outnumbered. The National Guard and military resources should be deployed to secure the border until the wall is complete and the system is fixed.

The Cartel Connection

What the media will not tell you is that the border crisis is a cartel operation from start to finish. The cartels control who crosses, when they cross, and how much they pay. The human smuggling industry generates billions of dollars annually for criminal organizations that use that money to buy weapons, corrupt officials, and expand their operations into the United States.

The cartels have set up staging areas in Mexican border towns where they process thousands of migrants per day. They charge between $3,000 and $15,000 per person for smuggling services. Those who cannot pay are forced to carry drugs or are sold into human trafficking.

This is the reality of the open border. It is not a humanitarian crisis — it is a criminal enterprise, facilitated by an administration that has chosen to look the other way.

The Path Forward

The American people understand what is happening. Polling shows that border security is one of the top issues driving voters in every election cycle. The silent majority is no longer silent. Parents, workers, veterans, and law enforcement officers are demanding accountability.

The answer is not comprehensive immigration reform. The answer is enforcement. The laws are already on the books — they simply need to be enforced. The resources are available — they simply need to be deployed. The will of the American people is clear — it simply needs to be heard.

Every American who cares about the future of this country must demand that the border be secured. The safety, sovereignty, and prosperity of the United States depends on it. The fight for America starts at the border — and it is a fight we cannot afford to lose.
