Source review: October 30, 2026. Originally published October 1, 2026. The October 9 mobile-pantry notice below is historical. This review checked the provider pages for SACS, Recovering Crossville and Revolution Church, the county resource directory and the retained Second Harvest event notice. No service availability was confirmed by phone.

Correction / source update, October 30: This article previously listed the SACS food-pantry interval as eight weeks. Its current official page says once every four weeks. The provider page does not establish when that wording changed, so this update does not assign an effective date to the policy.

Historical notice: October 9 mobile pantry

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee listed a Friday, October 9, 2026 mobile pantry at The Church of God, 1312 E. First Street, beginning at 10 a.m. local Central time and continuing until the allotted food was distributed. That date has passed; the listing does not verify attendance, distribution totals or that the event occurred as planned.

The organizer’s event page describes open attendance, no required items and arrival at the distribution start. These are the retained notice's instructions, not confirmation of a future event. Use the organizer's November calendar to check a new dated notice before traveling.

For families seeking current assistance, Crossville’s church-supported assistance network has other entry points. The important detail is that each program sets its own schedule, services and requirements.

Historical pickup and volunteer times

The Volunteer East Tennessee listing shows an October 9 shift beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at noon at the same address. That is a volunteer shift, not a different published food-pickup time.

The original October 1 report distinguished the food bank's 10 a.m. distribution start from the 9 a.m. volunteer shift. These October 9 times are preserved for context, not offered as current travel instructions. The event page uses the label “CST”; the time here is expressed as local Central time to avoid suggesting an hour’s adjustment during daylight saving time.

St. Alphonsus publishes a different assistance process

St. Alphonsus Community Services, known as SACS, says religious affiliation is not required to receive help. Its posted hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Central, with the food pantry closing at 1:30 p.m. The assistance number is 931-484-8074.

The ministry says Cumberland County residents with photo identification may apply for financial assistance. After verification, qualifying rent or utility assistance is paid directly to a landlord or utility, no more than once in six months. Its current published food-pantry interval is once every four weeks, as checked October 30.

Those rules should not be transferred to Second Harvest’s mobile event. A requirement published for financial assistance is also not automatically a rule for every other service. Call SACS about the particular help needed before making a trip.

Day support and organized meals are separate options

Recovering Crossville describes the CF Storehouse, at 608 West Avenue, as a day shelter offering cooked meals, clothing, food and other assistance to people facing homelessness or difficult circumstances. Its public contact number is 931-202-1500.

A day-shelter listing does not promise an overnight bed. The Upper Cumberland news outlet UC Now reported a temporary warming operation there in January 2026. That dated report should not be reused as an announcement of an open overnight shelter this October.

Revolution Church also publishes a Bread of Life volunteer group for preparing and serving a monthly meal. Its listing describes service on the fourth Monday, with age rules for kitchen and dining-room volunteers. That page is useful for people offering time; it is not a comprehensive public meal calendar.

The county’s resource page also lists Cumberland Good Samaritans for food and utility needs and UCHRA for rent, mortgage and transportation assistance. Availability must be confirmed with the provider; a directory entry is not a promise of funds.

These services show several practical forms of faith-based community work: hosting a distribution, operating a pantry and organizing volunteers. They do not provide enough data to calculate how many county households currently need help or whether demand has risen.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to belong to a church to use these services?

Second Harvest's retained October 9 notice says anyone may attend; confirm the terms on any new event notice. SACS explicitly says no religious affiliation is required for aid. Ask other providers about their own requirements.

What were the listed October 9 pickup and volunteer times?

The food bank listed 10 a.m. for distribution; 9 a.m. was the volunteer shift. October 9 has passed. Neither time is a new event announcement.

How can I verify a church donation request?
