Blount County, Alabama’s ICE Agreement: What the Official 287(g) Roster Confirms
ICE’s official October 16 roster lists the Blount County Sheriff’s Office in Alabama under the Task Force Model, with an agreement date of January 26, 2026. The listing confirms a federal partnership; it does not supply local staffing, arrest totals or a county cost statement.

The official Alabama entry
WorthFighting.org downloaded the participating-agency workbook linked by ICE on October 19, 2026. The downloaded file is named ParticipatingAgencies10162026pm.xlsx; ICE’s program page labels its roster update October 16. The Alabama row identifies the county sheriff, the Task Force Model and January 26, 2026 in the agreement-date column.

The row links an ICE agreement PDF for Blount County, Alabama. We could verify that destination from the workbook but could not retrieve readable signed pages during this review. The date above is therefore attributed to ICE’s roster; this article does not independently authenticate the signatures or reproduce the agreement’s specific clauses.
Why the state label matters
The same workbook also contains entries for a Blount County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee. Those Tennessee rows list Task Force and Warrant Service Officer models dated June 23, 2026. They are separate records and should not be assigned to Alabama’s Blount County.
A search for “Blount County ICE agreement” can therefore produce a misleading answer unless the reader checks the state, agency and model together. For Oneonta, Blountsville and the Alabama county, use the Alabama row and the agreement URL containing AL. The workbook’s alphabetical placement alone is not sufficient identification.
What the Task Force Model describes
ICE’s program explanation describes the Task Force Model as limited immigration authority exercised by designated officers during ordinary police duties or participation in an ICE-led task force. It separately describes a jail-processing model and a warrant-service model for people already in custody.
ICE says participating agencies nominate officers, with background screening and training, and that federal direction and oversight apply. These are the agency’s general program descriptions. They do not identify which Blount deputies have completed training, their current authorization, or the date local operations began.
A roster entry answers whether ICE lists an agreement. An officer training record, operating policy and activity report answer different questions. None should be substituted for the others when describing an individual encounter.
The local implementation questions still open
This review did not obtain verified Blount-specific totals for trained personnel, immigration encounters, detainers, transfers, overtime or federal reimbursements. That is an evidence limit, not a finding that these records or activities do not exist.
- Authority: the executed memorandum, attachments, amendments and any termination or renewal notices.
- Personnel: aggregate authorized-officer counts and training completion dates, with lawful redactions where needed.
- Activity: monthly aggregate reports that identify the reporting period and distinguish encounters, bookings, detainers and transfers.
- Costs: program-related payroll, overtime, travel, equipment and reimbursement records.
- Oversight: applicable operating policies and the published complaint or review process.
Keeping these categories separate prevents an encounter count from being presented as deportations, or a federal training benefit from being presented as proof that every local expense is reimbursed.
Where readers can follow the records
Start with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office for sheriff-held program records and the official ICE program page for the roster and model descriptions. Identify the Alabama agency in every request. Federal records and county records may have different custodians.
The commission’s financial-management office is a starting point for county budget and payment records. Our Blount County commission and public-records guide links the county’s request form and explains how to ask for a defined document set. Sending a request to the commission should not be assumed to reach the sheriff automatically.
This is a review of published records. We have not sent requests or received an agency response for this article. Any future response should be dated and linked before local operational claims are added.
