Blount County’s Bridge Academy: Spring Enrollment Opens November 3
Blount County’s virtual and blended public-school option has a new Oneonta campus and a November 3–December 11 spring enrollment window. Families should also check the required campus time and confirm which grade-specific calendar applies.

Update note: Rechecked October 29, 2026: the district’s chart still lists November 3–December 11 for spring applications. The spring window has not opened as of this review. The webpage and meeting PDFs still use different grade groups; confirm the assigned calendar with program staff.
The next published application window
The district’s 2026–27 enrollment chart lists spring applications from November 3 through December 11, 2026, with classes beginning January 11, 2027 and a January 15 drop deadline. The chart was visually rechecked October 29. As of that review, the spring application window is still upcoming; a working application link does not mean it has opened.
| Step | Published date |
|---|---|
| Applications open | November 3, 2026 |
| Application deadline | December 11, 2026 |
| Spring classes begin | January 11, 2027 |
| Drop deadline | January 15, 2027 |
The same chart lists October 9 as the Fall Term 2 enrollment deadline, October 14 as its start and October 16 as its drop deadline. Those dates have passed. Contact program staff about any exception rather than assuming an online form means enrollment is currently open.
A public-school option with a physical campus
Bridge Academy’s official page announces a move to 45 Community Road, Oneonta, AL 35121, effective August 2026. Its 2026–27 guidelines describe a county public-school virtual/blended option for eligible students in grades 7–12. Courses are free for qualifying full-time students who meet Blount County Schools’ residency requirements.
The guidelines require a minimum 2.0 GPA or grade-level equivalent and describe school approval, an application and interview, academic readiness, attendance, behavior and home support. A county address alone does not settle eligibility. Start with the student’s zoned school counselor or principal and ask staff to review the individual enrollment requirements.
This adds a county-system option to the separate CHOOSE Act and Oneonta school-options coverage. Families should compare the actual program, admission process and schedule for each choice.
Weekly attendance is part of the program
The linked 2026–27 eligibility requirements assign campus time according to academic level and progress:
| Category used by the document | Weekly campus time |
|---|---|
| Grades 9–12, GPA 3.0 or higher | 1.5 hours |
| Grades 9–12, GPA 2.0–2.99 | 3 hours |
| Grades 7–8, grade-level equivalent of at least 2.0 | 2 hours |
Administration sets the visit schedule, and students who fall behind may be assigned more campus time. The document requires attendance on at least 75% of required days each grading term and describes possible intervention, truancy referral or dismissal when requirements are not met.
Enrollment also includes staff review, school approval, transcript and course work with counselors, account setup and signed student/parent agreements. Completing a form is one step in that process.
Confirm the grade group before using a calendar
The official webpage’s calendar section labels grades 10–12 as high school and grades 7–9 as junior high. The currently linked PDFs use different groups: the high-school meeting calendar names grades 11 and 12, while the junior-high meeting calendar names grades 7, 8, 9 and 10.
That difference matters particularly for tenth graders. The PDFs generally place the high-school group at 9 a.m. Wednesdays and the junior-high group at 9 a.m. Tuesdays, with exceptions printed in each schedule. Ask staff to confirm the student’s assigned calendar and meeting time before traveling. This review does not resolve the conflicting labels on the district’s behalf.
The eligibility document also uses grades 9–12 for its GPA-based attendance levels. Treat the enrollment criteria, assigned weekly hours and meeting calendar as separate items to confirm together.
What to settle before accepting a place
The program guidelines address proctored examinations, state testing at the zoned school and participation in activities subject to applicable eligibility rules. Ask the counselor how the proposed courses fit the student’s graduation plan, including any athletics-related course requirements.
Before committing, get a clear answer on transportation to campus, internet and device needs, the weekly timetable, academic support and the process for returning to the zoned school. The district page says orientation is required and that students remain committed after the drop deadline unless staff release them.
Use the application linked from the official page when the relevant window opens. Keep the acceptance, assigned schedule and enrollment agreement together. For board records and policy questions, see the county and Oneonta school-board guide.
For enrollment or the calendar-label discrepancy, the district lists Andrew McKinney at 205-775-1126, option 2, or amckinney@blountboe.net. Confirm the student’s grade group, campus schedule and application steps with staff.
